Collaring / raw collaring
In pipeline construction, branches and junctions are increasingly being realized with collars.
They have a number of advantages over cast or welded purchased parts:
- Improved flow properties
- Lower weight
- Fewer joints in pipeline construction
- Lower maintenance costs
- Fewer complaints and leaks
- no storage costs
The principle of necking
In the first step, an elliptical pilot hole is milled into the pipe (left image). The pipe opening is then slowly pulled upwards with the neck tool until the characteristic opening is created (middle image). In the final step, the drawn pipe connection is turned flat to remove any unevenness for subsequent welding.
